A native of Versailles, I have been active in the community for a number of years. I served on the Apple Festival Committee for years, the Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce, and Versailles Hometown Beautification.
I decided to run for Alderperson to help make our city a better place to live and raise our children. I was voted into office in April 2002. I can't say this has been an easy job because it hasn't. It takes a lot of time and patience to fulfill the job.
hello I think the one thing that stands out is that I like getting to know all the employees of the city and talking with them about their wants, needs, and concerns. Sometimes all we can do is listen, but that gives us an idea of what we need to accomplish.
There are so many interesting things that our City is involved in and does that there is no end to learning and trying to understand all the ways that things work such as the water system, sewer system, police and city workers.
I have tried to learn what I can from each department to help me in making the right decisions at the council meetings. None of our employees are any different or better than the others and are all very important to making things work.
I do think there are more things we can do to improve the city and still would like to see more annexing done in the future. Right now we are working on a huge sewer project and although it seems to the people that we are dragging our heels, we are following all the rules and regulations to this problem taken care of. It just takes time.
These are just a few things that I have touched on. Please feel free to attend our Council meetings and to ask questions. I am here to help and listen to you and will try to help.
